My Next Big Thing with Jessica Kong

I could not restrain from inviting my great author friends along with myself to engage in the blog-chain called ‘My Next Big Thing’

A special thanks to my good friend Brenda Perlin, author of Home Wrecker (Home Wrecker Blog), who invited me to participate in the Blog-Chain started by Andy Duncan, author of The Badger-Boy Brouhaha

Adventures of Cecilias Park Blogspot

Here is what I had to say about My Next Big Thing

What is the working title of your book?  The title to my book is, “A Lost Kitten”.

Where did the idea come from for the book?  The idea for my book came from watching a lot of sci-fi movies like Star Wars, Star Trek, and V.

What genre does your book fall under?  My book can be labeled as paranormal romance with sci-fi elements, or a paranormal/sci-fi romance.  Either way, A Lost Kitten is a hybrid and can fit under several categories.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?  It took me six months to write it, but several more months to edit it.

What other books would you compare its story within your genre?  Readers have compared my book to Star Wars and to Lord of the Rings, which I’m totally flattered.  But within paranormal romance, I have to admit, I have read only a handful of books with aliens or alien felines, which inspired me to write mine.  One in particular was written by Dara Joy.

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?  A Lost Kitten is not just a ghost romance.   This book will take you to different planets.   Introduce you to characters that have elemental powers and characters with mutant powers like in Xmen.  My book deals with the fear and prejudice factors that arise because of those traits.  And the true love that overcomes them.

An Almighty Conspiracy by Fred Schafer

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

An Almighty Conspiracy is a well-paced mystery thriller about two couples whose lives become interconnected through a series of seemingly unrelated events.  Fred’s easy style of writing and talent for weaving characters’ lives kept me in my seat and turning the pages.   I normally do not read thrillers.  However, Fred Schafer has proven to me that thrillers can indeed be thrilling to read.  If you are looking for your next favorite author, read An Almighty Conspiracy.  It is sure to keep you guessing until that final page.

Men are like Wine by Anne Violette

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

If there were an Albert Einstein award for writers, author Anne Violette would be the top recipient.  In her unique way, she simplifies the complexity in wine making so a novice could understand, then compares the final product to male characteristics.  In my opinion, this was brilliant.

Ms. Violette’s explanations about the wines were just enough without becoming overwhelming or boring.  Her smooth transitions into the relationships of several couples made you smile and nod your head in agreement.  The men were pegged spot on.

Anne Violette’s “Men are like Wine” is sure to become a favorite read for both women and men with her fun, refreshing, and humorous style of writing.

Daimones by Massimo Marino

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Another Doomsday story that will knock your socks off!

Daimones is a beautiful book about hope and despair in a world that is changed forever. The story feels very real and captures the reader from the first chapter. It is not difficult to put yourself in the main characters shoes, even when his world is turned upside down. You can truly feel his pain and hope. For me, this story was very capturing (I actually dreamed I was in the story myself two nights in a row).”

OK…first of all, I’m a serial killer kind of girl…regarding novels, that is. So Daimones was a totally different read for me. The book was a page turner for me up until Laura entered the picture, and that’s where I had to think outside the box. box sometimes has duct tape on it. I will say this…if science fiction is your cup of tea, you will love this book. The imagination it takes to write this kind of story amazes me.. truly. Editing was superb…especially taking into account a language barrier. All in all, this novel should do very well on the charts.”

I really enjoyed Daimones…especially the ending. Dan and his family wake up one morning after a freak wind storm and discover that, to all intents and purposes, they are alone on Earth. The author really knows how to describe what that might feel like… the disbelief, the anguish, the grief, the frantic search for other survivors. Then, finally, when he and his family do find other survivors- the absolute terror of first contact.”

I truly enjoyed this book. The writing is witty and sharp, and the author has obviously done his research on doomsday theories. In the end, when everything is explained about the First and Second Loss; it’s like watching a marathon of Ancient Aliens, which I absolutely love!”

This is in my favorite list… The novel presents an esoteric vision, driven with incredible expertise from different domains, initiating the reader in physics, geography, and many more, but I would disclose too much… Something that can happen every day, in the John Lennon context that I am stuck with now…’Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.’  A book that will keep you reading continuously, avid for more once you reach the end…”

Daimones is available now on:

Barnes and Noble

And practically all the major e-book retailers out there as “Daimones” is in the Premium Catalogue of Smashwords.

Here are some examples of what fans are saying about Brenda Perlin’s book, “Home Wrecker”.

From the moment I started reading this book I knew I was going to like it.  Little did I know by the end of the book I would fall in love with it.”

I really enjoyed this book…not just for the story but for the way it took me back to memories of my own life growing up in Los Angeles in the 80’s.  Hard to believe this is the author’s first book… it’s written with such a heartfelt combination of candor, humility and humor.  I’d definitely recommend it!”

Loved this book!  Totally captivating! Really written from the heart.  Hoping Ms. Perlin will write a Part II one day.  Highly recommended!!”

One woman’s journey reflecting on the ups and downs of life while searching for a happier one.  A page turner that is not only entertaining, but is also witty, insightful and very entertaining.  A great read.”
